Very little is hidden on the internet so you may as well take advantage of being able to easily find out what your competitors are up to! You could start off by finding out what sites are competing with yours by typing your main keyword phrase into the search engines and then take a good look at the businesses that appear on the first page of the search results.

Things to look out for are their marketing strategies, what products are they offering and at what prices, the general look of the website, incentives offered and so on. Have a look to see if they are offering incentives such as free ebooks to purchasers or a free newsletter to subscribers? This exercise will provide you with ideas on how you can improve your own online business.

Secondly, you need to understand your customers and know what they are looking for. The internet provides many places that you can find prospective customers. One reason for the lack of growth in your business could be that you are not reaching the full potential of your target market.

As an example, social media is something that many people are involved with online in one form or another. It is important therefore to market your business in multiple ways online in order to experience growth.

Are you meeting new potential customers through the social networks and bringing your business alive with the use of video? Are you making regular posts on your blog and do you invite your readers to leave comments, which will give you the opportunity to interact with them?

By working on a daily basis and implementing your new strategy your business will in time move to the next level. You need to implement strategies such as viral marketing, social networking, video blogging, trading links with high PR sites and any other methods that your competitors are using.
