Avoid This Internet Marketing Trap To Succeed

by Michael Tasker

When starting out using the internet as a medium for selling information products the more research that is undertaken, the greater the uncovering of further information, tips and tactics that are marketed as essential to assist you in the success of your information marketing venture. It is only natural in the early days to gain as much knowledge as possible to fill the gaps in your learning.

Unfortunately, there is a problem that remains today that everyone can admit to being guilty of at some point in not just their knowledge building but also when they have been undertaking information marketing on the internet for a period of time. Only when the problem is identified, has been acknowledged and then rectified can serious progress be made to achieve the goals that should have been made right at the start of the venture.

The problem is brilliantly summed up as "the shiny bullet". It is "shiny" so to attract you. It will stir your interest and get you thinking and visualising the outcome that it promises and thus it achieves the ideal marketing scenario. It works as it stirs the emotions so that the "buy now" button is clicked on and a purchase is made. What is "it"? It's the next big thing, the product that will make you the money that you dream about, the software that will automate everything for you, the no work system that you just have to plug in and watch your bank account fill with orders. The copywriting that sell the product is excellent and thus subsequently captures mant to buy the dream fulfilment.

What happens is that when those new to information marketing get the product and realise that it involves putting in effort, the "work" word, the initial enthusiasm wears off and only a few who purchased will actually use their new product. Most of those will then give up after only a short period of time and then do something that is a delight to the established marketers. They will be caught in the headlights of the next "shiny bullet" and repeat the process all over again.

Why is it called "bullet"? Quite simply, by following this path you are killing any hope that you have to achieving even a modicum of success in information marketing. It is the complete opposite of what is required, which is focus. Concentrate on one project at a time that you know there is a market for and develop and sell products for that market. Don't get distracted by all these "shiny bullets" that are fired in your direction that you see everyday in your email inbox. If you feel you really want to purchase something, only do so if the answer to the question "will this help me make progress in the next 30 days?" is yes.

By all means purchase further knowledge to ensure you will succeed but be very aware of standing in line and being hit by all these shiny bullets. Many beginners never get out of the firing line, fail at what they set out to do and proclaim that information marketing on the internet does not work. So stay far away from the continuous flow of shiny bullets and you will be on your way to proving them wrong.

You have been gathering a lot of information about starting a work at home business based on the internet. You now need the assistance to guide your through these tricky first stages to build a solid business foundation.
